Question - Can you make Companionway Doors for all boats? Answer - We can make doors for almost all boats We have made doors for for more than 40 different brands of boats, from a Beneteau 50 to a Macgregor 26x, and dated from 1969 to 2008.
Question - What is the ordering procedure, and how long does it take for delivery? Answer - Delivery can take up to 9 weeks. To order you must submit the ordering form, including your method of payment. This will get you on the order list. In 4-5 weeks we will process your work-order and payment. You will then receive the doors in 5-10 working days.
Question - What materials are the Companionway CloZures made from? Answer - The CloZures are manufactured from Starboard Plastic. This marine poly is totally impervious to weather. We've manufactured SternPerch (r) seats from it for the last 8 years and it has performed admirably.
Question - Will the Doors bend or warp? Answer - They will not because we've laminated within each door, a SS girder to prevent this problem. This is possible, thanks to a new space-age adhesive from 3M.
Question - Will the screens rust? Answer - No: the screening material is fiberglass so it will never rust. It's opening will prevent the average bug from entering your boat. If you need a no-see-um screen let us know.
Question - Will rain enter the boat via the insertable panels? Answer - Rain does not enter the boat because moisture is drained outward. Below each insert is a weep hole. Water will not enter the boat.
Question - Do you recommend using Companionway Doors, while sailing off-shore? Answer - Although the new doors are very strong and durable, we recommend using your original boards for off-shore sailing. The ability to insert the original hatch boards is an important feature. Enjoy the features of your new doors while costal cruising.
Question - Do all doors cost the same regardless of size? Answer - Yes. the price is the same.
Question - Can the Companionway Doors be ordered without the inserts (plain)? Answer - No, at this time they are available with inserts only.
Question - Are locks built into the doors? Answer - As an option, a pre installed cam-lock is available for locking the door from the outside. We also have several methods of locking the doors from the inside.
